Rules

Play fair. Respect other players. Keep your profile appropriate.

Battle

  • Take turns naming a show that shares a main cast member or creator with the current show. You have 25 seconds per turn.
  • A show can only be played once per match. Incorrect links do not pass the turn.
  • The first successful link is free. After that, each shared person can connect shows up to three times. The X marks show their uses.
  • Stay on the game tab during your turn. Being away for five continuous seconds forfeits the match. Concede also ends your match.
  • Ranked affects your rating and requires a verified account. Unranked and Private rooms do not affect your rating. Both players must accept a found match before it starts.

Power-ups

Cast, Skip and +15 seconds can each be used once per match.

  • Cast: reveal the current show's creators and main cast, and gain five seconds.
  • Skip: pass your turn. Two skips cannot be used back to back.
  • +15 seconds: add fifteen seconds to your turn.
  • Rush: fast, valid answers charge your meter. When full, use it during your opponent's turn to remove ten seconds. Recharge it to use it again.

Daily

Guess the mystery show in ten guesses. Each difficulty has a new show every day at midnight UTC.

  • Green means a match, yellow means shared or close, and red means no match. Arrows point you toward the right year or season count.
  • More hints unlock as you make guesses.
  • Sign in to keep progress across devices and appear on leaderboards. Guest progress stays on that browser.

The Daily Archive is for practice and does not affect rankings or statistics.

Fair play

  • Use your own TV knowledge. No answer searches, outside assistance, bots, scripts or automated play.
  • Do not exploit bugs, alter game data, arrange wins or use multiple accounts to manipulate ratings and statistics.
  • No harassment, threats, hate speech, spam or sharing someone else's private information.

Accounts & profiles

  • Names: usernames, public account IDs (@handles) and display names must not be vulgar, hateful, threatening or sexually explicit. Do not impersonate another person or Channel Surf staff, or disguise blocked words to bypass the rules.
  • Profile pictures & banners: No nudity, sexual content, graphic gore, hateful symbols or images used to target or humiliate someone.
  • Other profile content: the same standards apply to your bio and anything else you publish. Links are not allowed in bios. No scams, spam or private information belonging to others.
  • Your account: keep your password private. Do not share or sell accounts, or create accounts to evade a restriction.
