Why we use browser storage
Cookies accompany website requests. Local storage remembers information between visits, while session storage usually lasts for a tab or browser session. We use them for account security and the games you choose, without advertising or marketing-analytics cookies.
Game data on your device
- Sound preference: local storage remembers whether sound effects are muted until you change the preference or clear site data.
- Daily progress and history: browser storage remembers guest rounds, archive practice and a local copy of account progress. Signed-in Daily rounds also sync with your account. Browser-local history has no automatic expiry.
- Guest Daily session: an essential cookie recognises this browser for up to 30 days. It keeps Daily attempts consistent and helps prevent duplicate results. It does not create a public profile.
- Battle and Arcade participation, temporary guest names and the previous Battle opening show: session storage remembers your tab during play. Temporary match information can reconnect you to an unfinished Battle after refresh; it is checked again before use and cleared when the match ends or access expires. It usually lasts for the tab or browser session, although browser session restoration may retain it.
- Archive practice: earlier Daily progress is saved separately on your browser so it can be resumed or replayed. It stays until you clear it or clear the site’s local data.
- Friend challenges: temporary information in this tab helps you join an accepted invitation. It lasts up to two hours to support joining or recovering an accepted match, and is cleared when joining.
Signing out does not remove browser-local Daily progress. These records are specific to this browser and device and are separate from saved account results.
Other services
Account, hosting and security services process the requests needed for these features. TV posters may load directly from TMDB, which receives request information such as your IP address. See TMDB’s privacy policy and our Privacy notice.
Your controls
Use your browser’s site-data settings to inspect, block or clear cookies and browser storage. Clearing account cookies can sign you out. Clearing local data can remove Daily progress or stop the browser recognising you in a Battle or Arcade room. Blocking storage can prevent sign-in, recovery or progress-saving features from working.
Clearing browser data does not delete records already saved to your account or chat messages already submitted to a room. For deletion requests or questions, email contact@channelsurf.io. We will update this page when our storage practices change.
